NCC Conducts Awareness Session on Water Security and Conservation at MVGRCE

An awareness session on Water Security and Conservation was successfully conducted at MVGR College of Engineering on 13 December 2025 under the guidelines of the 2(A) CTR NCC Unit. The programme aimed to promote clean water usage, groundwater conservation, and hygienic practices among students and community participants.
The session witnessed the enthusiastic participation of nearly 65 NCC cadets, along with civilian students and volunteers. The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of CTO N. Mehar Vasu (SD) and CTO L. Sowmya (SW). During the session, NCC cadets highlighted the importance of conserving water, preventing groundwater depletion, and adopting proper hygiene practices to avoid waterborne diseases.
An interactive segment encouraged participants to share their views and ideas on water conservation. Students actively suggested practical measures such as rainwater harvesting, reuse of household water, fixing leakages, reducing water wastage, and spreading awareness at the community level. This interaction provided valuable insights into student perspectives and reinforced responsible water usage habits.
As a tangible outcome of the programme, two to three water recharge pits were constructed within the college campus, contributing directly to groundwater replenishment and sustainable water management.
The session emphasized the vital role of youth in ensuring sustainable water resources. Overall, the programme was a great success, creating awareness and motivating participants to adopt and promote water conservation practices in their daily lives.
