Young Innovators Shine Bright at MVGR’s Smart India Hackathon 2025 Valedictory

Denkada September 2025: In a celebration of ideas, innovation, and youthful brilliance, Maharaj Vijayaram Gajapathi Raj College of Engineering (Autonomous) hosted the Valedictory Ceremony of the Internal Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of creativity and national aspiration. The Smart India Hackathon is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and AICTE. It seeks to harness the ingenuity of India’s youth to address pressing challenges across healthcare, agriculture, clean technologies, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and beyond. This year, MVGR’s internal round echoed this spirit magnificently. Out of 120 spirited teams, a remarkable 50 teams emerged winners of the institute-level hackathon, earning their place on the national stage.

Delivering a stirring address, Prof. YMC Sekhar, Principal of MVGR, praised the students’ resolve to think beyond classrooms and textbooks. “Hackathons such as SIH,” he declared, “are not mere contests but crucibles where the nation’s future innovators are forged.” He underscored MVGR’s unwavering commitment to building an innovation-driven ecosystem, pointing to the college’s Centers of Excellence in Embedded Systems, Product Development, and Sustainable Development as fertile grounds where ideas bloom into impactful solutions. He further spotlighted MVGR’s regular international ideathons and hackathons, calling them gateways for students to step onto the global innovation stage.  Looking to the horizon of technology, Prof. Sekhar urged students to embrace Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence—“the engines that will power tomorrow’s civilization.” His words, imbued with conviction, set the tone for a generation of dreamers ready to script India’s innovation story. Prof. Sekhar remarked,  At the heart of this culture lies the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of MVGR, which tirelessly nurtures creativity through #MVGRTalks, workshops on design thinking and IPR, ideathons, mentoring sessions, and industry linkages. The IIC has become the beating heart of innovation on campus, bridging classrooms with boardrooms, and ideas with impact.

The event report was presented by Mr. M. Vamsi, SIH Coordinator, who outlined the judging process and announced the shortlisted teams. All qualified teams were felicitated with appreciation letters, acknowledging their talent and commitment.  The valedictory session stood as more than just the end of an event—it was a resounding affirmation of MVGR’s vision to be a lighthouse of innovation, entrepreneurship, and societal impact in the region. The event was graced by Prof R Ramesh, Provost; IIC President Dr M Siva Subramanyam, IIC Convener Dr G Pavan Kumar, Head of the Departments, faculty and Jury members.Â
