MVGR Celebrates Engineer’s Day with Special Guest Lecture on AI & Innovation

MVGR College of Engineering (Autonomous) marked Engineer’s Day with an engaging special guest lecture on the theme “Engineering Innovation & Future of Technology.” The event featured Mr. Manoo Kapoor, Director - Product at Microsoft, as the Chief Guest, who delivered a keynote address on “Engineering the Future: AI as the Catalyst for Innovation.”
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. YMC Sekhar, Principal, MVGR, emphasized that Engineer’s Day stands as a tribute to innovation, creativity, and problem-solving. He expressed gratitude to Mr. Kapoor for inspiring students with valuable insights on the evolving role of engineers in shaping the future.
In his address, Mr. Kapoor highlighted that today’s engineers must go beyond technical expertise to embrace adaptability, empathy, and intellectual honesty. Stressing the importance of Artificial Intelligence, he noted that AI is no longer just a tool but a key enabler of innovation and career growth. He encouraged students to stay curious, embrace continuous learning, and cultivate problem-solving mindsets to thrive in the age of rapid technological change.
The interactive session concluded with a thought-provoking Q&A, where students discussed real-world challenges and career opportunities with Mr. Kapoor. Later, he visited the student project exhibition featuring innovations in AI and IoT. He praised standout projects such as Clean Route (Open Street), Freedom Box, Indoor Air Quality Monitoring System, Gesture Vocalizer, and Real-time Pothole Detection, offering constructive feedback and insights for future development.
The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. M. Sunil Prakash, Dean – Training & Placements, along with Dr. MVV Bhanu, Training & Placement Officer, and Mr. M. Vamsi Krishna, Swecha-AP-MVGR Coordinator. Faculty members and students from multiple departments actively participated, making the celebration a memorable and intellectually enriching experience.
With Mr. Kapoor’s inspiring call to action, the Engineer’s Day celebrations at MVGR concluded on a high note—encouraging young engineers to be proactive, resilient, and visionary leaders of tomorrow.
