Teachers’ Day Celebrations 2026 at MVGR College of Engineering

MVGR College of Engineering (A) celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5 September 2026 with great enthusiasm and dignity, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The celebrations were organized by the Maharaj Engineering College Welfare Association for Teaching Staff (MECWATS) and brought together faculty members from across the institution to celebrate teaching excellence, academic achievements, professional commitment, environmental responsibility, and teamwork.
As part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations, MECWATS organized a Plantation Drive across all departments of the college. The initiative aimed to promote environmental sustainability, increase the green cover of the campus, and encourage collective responsibility towards environmental conservation. Faculty members actively participated in the plantation activity, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to developing a greener, healthier, and more sustainable campus environment.
The main Teachers’ Day celebration was held at the Admin Seminar Hall in the presence of Sri P. Sitharama Raju Garu, Director; Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar Garu, Principal; Sri. N. Shanmukha Rao Garu, President, MECWATS; Deans; Heads of Departments; and teaching staff members. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment.
Addressing the gathering, Sri P. Sitharama Raju Garu, Director, shared his valuable thoughts on the changing role of teachers and emphasized the importance of adaptability in accordance with changing times. He highlighted the need for educators to continuously upgrade their knowledge, skills, and teaching methodologies to meet the evolving requirements of students and society.
Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar Garu, Principal, emphasized the significance of teachers in the present educational scenario and highlighted the vital role played by educators in nurturing knowledge, values, skills, and professional competence among students.
Sri. N. Shanmukha Rao Garu, President, MECWATS, reflected on the journey of a teacher and highlighted the dedication, continuous learning, perseverance, and commitment that define the teaching profession.
A special felicitation ceremony was organized to honour faculty members who completed 25 years of dedicated service to the institution. Their long-standing commitment and valuable contributions towards teaching, student development, and institutional growth were recognized during the programme. Dr. Rama Devi and Dr. Shaik Mastan Vali were felicitated for their remarkable service to the institution, which stands as a testament to their dedication and commitment to the teaching profession.
The programme also recognized faculty members who successfully completed their Post-Doctoral programmes, acknowledging their academic achievements and contributions to research and knowledge creation. Dr. V. Nagesh and Dr. Anjana Devi were felicitated on the occasion.
Faculty members who successfully completed their Doctoral degrees were also felicitated in recognition of their academic accomplishments and contributions to research and higher education. The faculty members honoured were Dr. K. Sobha Rani, Dr. R. Ravi Kanth, Dr. N. Gopi Chand, Dr. M. Swarna, Dr. Varun Chebrolu, Dr. T. Govinda Rao, Dr. A. Ashok Kumar, and Dr. L. Sujatha. The recognition of these faculty members reflects the institution’s continued emphasis on higher education, research, academic excellence, and faculty development.
An important highlight of the Teachers’ Day celebration was the recognition of faculty achievers across various categories. The initiative received an overwhelming response, with more than 250 submissions from faculty members highlighting their professional, academic, research, and other significant achievements. The achievements were duly recognized, and certificates were distributed to the achievers by Prof. Dr. Y. M. C. Sekhar Garu, Principal. The initiative provided a platform to appreciate the diverse accomplishments and contributions of faculty members across departments and encouraged a culture of excellence, recognition, and continuous professional development.
In addition to the academic and professional recognition activities, MECWATS organized various sports events for teaching staff to promote physical fitness, teamwork, healthy competition, and interaction among faculty members from different departments. The sports events witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and provided an opportunity for interaction and collaboration beyond academic and administrative responsibilities. The winners and runners-up of the various sporting events were honoured during the prize distribution ceremony. Sri P. Sitharama Raju Garu, Director, and Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar Garu, Principal, distributed prizes to the winners and runners-up and appreciated their sporting spirit, teamwork, and active participation.
